IT Support in Boston
Managed IT support for small and mid-sized businesses in Greater Boston. Help desk, patching, monitoring and security — with a technician who knows your setup.
Small offices rarely need a full IT department. They need someone who answers, who already knows how their systems are put together, and who fixes the cause rather than the symptom.
That is what this is. Help desk, maintenance, monitoring and security for businesses across Greater Boston that are too small to employ IT staff and too dependent on their systems to leave them alone.
What is included
Help desk. Your team texts or emails and gets a person. No portal to learn first, no ticket number instead of an answer. Most issues are resolved in a remote session that starts within minutes.
Patching and updates. Operating systems, browsers and the applications you depend on, on a schedule, tested rather than pushed blindly. Most breaches of small businesses exploit something that had a patch available.
Monitoring. Disks filling, drives reporting errors, backups silently failing, services stopping. The point is that you hear about it from us, before it becomes the reason nobody can work.
Backup that has been tested. Backups that have never been restored are not backups. We verify restores on a schedule, because the day you find out is the worst possible day to find out.
Security baseline. MFA everywhere it can be enabled, endpoint protection, a sane password policy and staff who have been shown what a phishing email looks like. See cybersecurity.
Vendor wrangling. We deal with your ISP, your line-of-business software vendor and your copier company, so your staff do not spend an afternoon on hold explaining a problem they cannot describe in technical terms.
Documentation. What you own, how it is configured, what the passwords are and where the recovery keys live — held properly, and handed over if you ever leave us. IT documentation that lives only in a provider’s head is a form of lock-in.
What we do not do
We do not resell hardware and then recommend hardware. We tell you what to buy and you buy it, at whatever price you can get. A support company earning margin on the equipment it specifies has an interest that is not yours.
We do not lock you into three-year terms. If the service is good you will stay.
We do not replace a functioning internal IT person to grow an account.
How the first month goes
Week one — we find out what you have. Every machine, every account, every service and every licence. Almost every office we onboard discovers something in this week: a user account still active for someone who left last year, a backup that stopped two months ago, a firewall on default credentials.
Week two — we fix what is urgent. Whatever we found that presents real risk gets addressed first, in an order we agree with you.
Week three — we standardise. Patching, monitoring and backup on schedule. Documentation written down.
Week four onward — you mostly forget about us. Which is the goal.
Why a smaller provider
The large Boston MSPs are competent and generally expensive, and a ten-person office is a small account inside them. You get a service desk where the person answering has never seen your network and is reading from notes.
Smaller means the person who set up your systems is the person who answers when they break. It also means we are honest about scale: if you grow past what we should be handling, we will say so rather than stretching.
Industries we know well
Some businesses have rules that a generic provider overlooks — and the fines and liability land on you, not on your IT company.
- Accounting firms — IRS Publication 4557, the FTC Safeguards Rule, and the written information security plan you are required to have
- Professional offices — law, architecture, consulting, small medical practices
Both are covered by Massachusetts 201 CMR 17.00, which applies to any business holding personal information about Massachusetts residents — and which more small firms are subject to than realise it.

Frequently asked questions
- How much does IT support cost in Boston?
- Managed plans for small offices in this market generally run between $75 and $150 per user per month, depending on how much is included. Hourly work sits roughly between $125 and $175. We price per user rather than per device, because a person with a laptop, a phone and a desktop is still one person to support. Our own rates are published on the pricing page.
- Do I have to sign a contract?
- No. You can call us for a single problem and never speak to us again. Managed plans are for businesses that prefer a predictable monthly cost and want problems caught before they are noticed, but nothing about getting help requires a commitment.
- How many employees do we need for this to make sense?
- Managed support usually starts making financial sense somewhere around eight to ten staff, or earlier if your business stops entirely when a system goes down. Below that, ad-hoc support is often the honest recommendation, and we will say so.
- Can you work with our existing IT person?
- Yes, and it is a common arrangement. Plenty of offices have someone internally who is capable but stretched, or who handles daily requests but not networks and security. We fill the gap rather than replacing them.
- What is your response time?
- Remote sessions typically start within minutes during business hours. On site, same or next business day within our 20-mile radius. We would rather state that plainly than publish an SLA with exceptions nobody reads.
