Home & Personal Tech Support
Patient, in-home tech help across Greater Boston. Slow computers, Wi-Fi that will not reach, new devices, printers, backups and getting rid of malware.
Not everything is a business problem. Sometimes the Wi-Fi does not reach the back bedroom, the laptop has become unbearably slow, the printer refuses to talk to the new phone, or a parent needs someone patient to explain the same thing twice without sighing.
We do that too, across Greater Boston.
What we help with
- Computers that have become slow, and whether it is worth fixing or replacing
- Wi-Fi that does not reach the whole house — usually placement, not a new router
- New computer, phone or tablet setup, and moving everything across from the old one
- Printers and scanners, including the ones that worked until an update
- Backup, so family photos survive a dead drive
- Malware, pop-ups, browser hijacks and cleaning up after a scam call
- Smart home devices that will not connect
- Streaming, TVs and the tangle of remotes behind them
- Email problems, recovering accounts, sorting out passwords
- Patient one-to-one help for someone who finds all of this stressful
How we work
Text or email a description of the problem. We will tell you whether it can be solved remotely — many things can, and that is faster and cheaper — or whether it needs a visit.
If we come out, we tell you what it will likely cost before we start. If we find something bigger than expected, we stop and talk to you first. Nobody gets an invoice with a surprise on it.
About scam calls
If someone called claiming to be from Microsoft, Apple, Amazon or your bank, and had you install something or give them access to your computer, do this now: disconnect the machine from the internet, and call your bank from the number on your card, not from any number the caller gave you.
Then contact us and we will check the machine properly — what was installed, what was accessed, and what needs changing. This is common, it is not your fault, and it is fixable.
A note on business customers
If you run a business from home, or your household equipment is also your work equipment, some of this changes — particularly backup and security. Have a look at managed IT support or just tell us and we will point you the right way.

Frequently asked questions
- Do you charge by the hour or per job?
- Hourly for most work, with an honest estimate before we start. If a job turns out to be quicker than expected you pay for what it took. If it turns out to be much bigger, we stop and talk to you before continuing.
- Can you help someone who is not comfortable with technology?
- That is a large part of this work, and we are patient about it. We explain what we are doing, we write down anything worth remembering, and we do not make anyone feel foolish for asking the same question twice.
- Do you come to the house?
- Yes, within 20 miles of Boston. Many things can also be handled in a remote session, which is faster and costs less — we will tell you honestly which one your problem needs.
- My computer is very slow. Do I need a new one?
- Often not. A machine that has become slow is usually suffering from a full disk, too many programs starting automatically, or a failing hard drive that would be transformed by an SSD. We will tell you when a computer is genuinely worth replacing, and when a modest upgrade buys you three more good years.
- Can you help with a family member's device remotely?
- Yes. Remote sessions work anywhere, and this is a common request — an adult child in Boston arranging help for a parent elsewhere. We can bill you and work with them.
